Customer Reviews
RIG’s team of Chad Baillie and Leszek Bednarski combine top notch petrophysical talent with innovative seismic interpretation techniques. RIG has supported PT Petroleum’s Permian Basin horizontal drilling program targeting the Wolfcamp formation with high quality integrated structural and stratigraphic insight. Utilizing PT’s 100+ square miles of 3D data, RIG’s interpretive skills have provided well planning input, geo-steering assistance, and potential geo-hazard assessment.
The RIG team gathered information, input, and insights from PT staff in an effort to formulate new interpretation concepts for out project. Weekly updates kept management in the loop on progress, problems and associated solutions, and timeline of goals. Data requests were always handled rapidly and accurately. Project presentation to management and partners demonstrated highly organized preparation and strong presentation skills.
Working with Reservoir Insight Geosolutions (RIG) was instrumental in fully utilizing all the available data in a multidisciplinary fashion to yield a well-rounded assessment of the project acreage. An integrated model was created using MV Stats to predict relative performance and maintained a strong correlation after adding blind wells. Working with RIG created an environment of creativity and solution-based ideas that directly impacted management level decisions. RIG was also able to complete the project and yield results in an unprecedented time frame. I fully endorse RIG as consultancy of the year and have the upmost respect for their services. I see a bright future for RIG and am excited for the partnership and continued collaboration.
WPX Energy has contracted Reservoir Insight Geosolutions (RIG) on multiple projects relating to pre-stack seismic inversion and production prediction models using multivariate statistical algorithms. From verifying well locations and Kelly Bushings (KBs), to editing log data to determine the optimum seismic volume, RIG provides a high level of Quality Control (QC). There are many E&P companies working to create models to predict production from pre-stack seismic inversion, and RIG has put themselves high in this space by making sure models follow first principals, by understanding accuracy and stability of the models, and being transparent in their work. RIG consistently followed up during the projects when new data arrived and additionally after testing how well the new data fit current models. Any discrepancies to the fit would be reevaluated in the model by RIG, explained why, and a recommendation given on how to move forward. Since working with RIG, WPX Energy has an enhanced understanding of what geologically and geophysically is driving production and what the variability is vertically and laterally.

Deterministic Pre Stack Inversion
Deterministic pre-stack inversion uses seismic gathers or angle stacks to simultaneously invert for P-impedance, shear-impedance and density. All other elastic and geomechanical properties can be calculated from these 3 quantities and are crucial for property or productivity modeling.
Attribute Generation and Analysis
RIG offers a wide range of seismic attributes to image structural and stratigraphic features across a reservoir to provide a better understanding of the geology. Analyzing seismic attributes with engineering and well data can also provide insights into the key reservoir properties driving well productivity.
Time-Depth Velocity Modeling
Velocity modeling is an important process to accurately convert seismic volumes from time to depth. RIG uses an integrated velocity modeling process to mitigate errors and improve accuracy for well-to-seismic extractions. This is an imperative step for 3D property and productivity modeling.
Well Planning and Prospect Development
Utilizing reliable 3D property and production models is key for high-grading prospective drilling areas and staying in zone. RIG can provide horizontal well designs with detailed depth profiles to assist in drilling programs for field development.

Log Editing and Reconstruction
It is crucial to prepare and quality control well data properly prior any well-ties, seismic inversion, Reservoir Modeling or Formation Evaluation. RIG’s log editing process squeezes out as much from the data as possible. De-spiking or simple log reconstruction gives a set of curves new life.
Formation Evaluation
A key analytical process contributing to the identification of economically productive reservoirs through the examination of well logs, laboratory data, mud logs and pre/post- drilling data. This process helps recognize reservoir properties, reduces uncertainty and can identify pay zones. Tracking lithology changes together with porosity, permeability and fluid saturation provides a better understanding of the formation.
Well Feasibility Study
Pre-stack inversion is often used when it is impossible to differentiate geologic features with similar P-impedance signatures. Solving for S-impedance and density in addition to P-impedance allows us to understand where the fluids are and in what lithotypes. Well feasibility studies can determine whether separation of the desired lithotype and fluid can be achieved with P-impedance alone or if S-impedance is required.
